North East Ambulance division chief says staffing stable; Rockport to start transport service in December
Summary
Jonathan Powers, division chief for NEMHS, told the Hope Select Board staffing is currently adequate, the service is using a paramedic "fly car" model rather than placing a medic on every call, and Rockport plans to begin transport service in December pending licensing; towns will get updated cost estimates in January or February.

Jonathan Powers, division chief for NEMHS, updated the Hope Select Board on Nov. 12, saying staffing is currently good and recent base upgrades have helped morale.
Powers said the service is using a paramedic "fly car" model rather than assigning a medic to every call and that Rockport is planning to begin its transport service in December once outstanding requirements for a transport license are met. He said NEMHS plans to continue providing emergency medical services to the remaining three communities "as long as they are wanted." Towns will receive updated cost assessments in January or February to aid budgeting.
The board did not take formal action on the report. The update provided a timeline and operational details intended to help local officials plan for next year’s budgets and coverage arrangements.
