Rye Heritage Commission approves reimbursements, hears updates on signs, shutters and gazebo

The Rye Heritage Commission on June 4 approved two expense reimbursements, heard multiple project updates and set its next meeting for July 9.
Finance and votes: The commission approved reimbursement of $105.36 to Treasurer Peter White for Memorial Day refreshments after a motion by Chair Alex Herlihy and a second by Alternate Elizabeth Sanborn. The commission also approved reimbursement of $104.00 to Member David Choate for Rye Advocates web site costs; the minutes record both motions as adopted 'all in favor.'
Project updates: Member David Choate said Timberline Signs intends to have the new 'Welcome to Rye' signs installed by the Fourth of July and that he will coordinate post installation with DPW Director Jason Rucker. Choate said Town Hall shutters are expected to be completed this summer. Alternate Elizabeth Sanborn confirmed the gazebo has been painted and will submit an invoice; she and Choate reported meeting with Ben Holmes of Rye Beach Landscaping on fall plantings and a proposed granite stone, which the Driftwood Garden Club may be able to fund. Choate said the commission will seek an estimate for the granite stone before proceeding.
Other business: The Demo Review Committee reviewed 116 Old Beach Road and reported no issues. Chair Alex Herlihy reported that the Rye Advocates group now has six members. Herlihy also submitted an application for an RHC table at the July 4 celebration at Parsons Field from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Treasurer Peter White reported the Heritage Commission account balance is $29,235 after recent payments. The next Heritage Commission meeting was scheduled for Thursday, July 9 at 5:30 p.m.
Adjournment: Peter White moved to adjourn at 6:23 p.m.; the motion was seconded by Alex Herlihy and recorded as adopted 'all in favor.'
