MPIC asks Conservation Commission to review responsibilities; Parsons Creek committee examines septic enforcement

MPIC asked the Rye Conservation Commission to review items assigned to it and discussed a Strategic Conservation Plan that may be best handled jointly with the Planning Board in 2027; the Parsons Creek Committee is reviewing enforcement of Rye's septic ordinance in that watershed while the Rules and Regulations Committee is also reviewing septic regulations.
Rye's Master Plan Implementation Committee on June 2 discussed whether items assigned to the Rye Conservation Commission remain appropriate and agreed to ask the commission to review the current assignments.
Jenn Madden said she will request that the RCC review the list at its next regular meeting. Committee members said a Strategic Conservation Plan would have broad scope and might be better handled as a joint Planning Board–Conservation Commission project, possibly scheduled for 2027 with consultant support and a working group to define roles and budget.
MPIC also noted that the Parsons Creek Committee has held two meetings and is exploring recommendations from the FB Environmental project, including reviewing enforcement of Rye's septic ordinance within the Parsons Creek watershed. Members observed that the Rules and Regulations Committee is separately reviewing Rye septic regulations and that updates may follow.
Next steps: Jenn Madden will request the RCC review the assigned items; MPIC may form a working group to scope a Strategic Conservation Plan and will monitor Parsons Creek Committee and RRC work on septic regulations.
