Mayor Keith Turman opened the hearing at 5:15 p.m.; City Manager Lanier Dunn read the first reading of an ordinance to annex the property into the City of Royston pursuant to Chapter 36 of Title 36 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated.
The hearing closed at 5:30 p.m., and the council began its regular meeting. The agenda shows this action as a first reading only; no final vote on annexation was recorded in the minutes. The ordinance text and citation were read into the record by Dunn, who said the reading was introductory and did not change benefit or zoning policy at this stage.
Because this item was a first reading, the council did not take a final action during the Aug. 13 meeting.
