Kandiyohi council designates polling place, approves parks plan and routine motions

The Kandiyohi City Council on Oct. 7 approved a slate of routine measures, designating the Kandiyohi Civic Center as the city’s 2024 polling place and adopting the 2024 Parks Improvement Plan.

Council Member Scott McGillivray moved the resolution designating the Kandiyohi Civic Center at 432 Atlantic Ave as the 2024 polling place; Council Member Spencer Hunt seconded. Mayor Jon Lindstrand called a voice vote: McGillivray — Yes; Jeff Clark — Yes; Hunt — Yes; David Streich — Absent. The resolution passed.

Council Member Jeff Clark moved to approve the 2024 Parks Improvement Plan; Council Member Scott McGillivray seconded. Mayor Lindstrand conducted a voice vote with the same tally and the motion passed.

The council also approved routine consent‑agenda items — including approval of the Sept. 16 meeting minutes, the Oct. 7 claims list and a liquor license for KJ’s Quickstop — after a motion by McGillivray and a second from Clark. Other carried motions included approving a MN Rural Water Association training session for water operators, waiving a civic‑center rental fee for a Make‑A‑Wish celebration, tabling a website contract decision, and accepting the resignation of volunteer firefighter and first responder Daryl Miller.

The claims list provided to the council showed total expenditures of $36,304.94, including a property & casualty insurance charge to LMCIT for $18,287.00 and a city portion of fire department expenditures amounting to $1,310.73.

The council announced a candidate meet‑and‑greet for Oct. 29 and adjourned at 7:48 p.m.
