Staff said the plan reflects a collaborative effort with neighboring cities and that local stakeholders, including a resident who made a prior presentation, contributed to plan development. A council member who participated in the regional workshops said the document represented a good collaborative effort with neighboring cities and moved approval of Resolution 20-26-I.
Council approved the resolution by roll call. Staff said the plan will provide a framework for future trail projects and for coordinating funding applications and interlocal agreements with neighboring jurisdictions.
The council also discussed consolidating advisory committees related to parks, trails and community services to ensure volunteer capacity for implementing plan recommendations.
The adoption commits the city to the regional plan’s priorities but does not, by itself, obligate capital expenditures; specific projects and funding will be considered separately.
