At its Aug. 19 meeting, the Kandiyohi City Council approved routine items and a small public-works repair, and postponed action on a fire-department property donation.
The council unanimously approved the consent agenda, which included the Aug. 5 meeting minutes, the claims list and department reports. The July water report showed 931,000 gallons of water usage and 2,044,000 gallons of sewer usage. City Clerk/Treasurer Julie Woltjer presented the claims list; total expenditures reported were $34,453.92, with notable items including GLSSWD city sewer processing at $25,231.04 and MN PEIP employee health insurance at $3,883.80. The city portion of fire department expenditures was listed as $117.33.
For a targeted repair, Council Member Jeff Clark moved to allow Nissen Slabjacking to slabjack 32 linear feet along Atlantic Avenue and around the fire hall for $960; Council Member Spencer Hunt seconded and the motion carried.
On new business, Council Member Jeff Clark moved to table Resolution 202417, which would accept a real property donation for the Kandiyohi Fire Department, until more council members are present; Spencer Hunt seconded and the motion carried. The Parks Committee will meet on Aug. 28 to work on the Parks Improvement Plan.
Mayor Jon Lindstrand called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m.; Council adjourned at 7:47 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 3, 2024, at 7:00 p.m.
