MVPO outlines two CDBG critical infrastructure projects for Wauseon and Fayette; applications due in June

At a May 7 public hearing, MVPO representatives Lorenzo and Estee presented two projects they plan to include in the PY2026 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Critical Infrastructure application due in June.
Lorenzo told commissioners that the City of Wauseon project — a West Chestnut Street waterline replacement and related sewer separation work between S. Brunell Street and S. Fulton Street — has a project total of $2,756,300.50 and a CDBG request of $500,000. "This Project includes separation of combined sewers, replacement of a waterline from 1897, sanitary sewer and storm sewer," the presentation said, and MVPO's grant income survey showed the project area's low- and moderate-income (LMI) percentage qualified at 58.5 percent.
The second proposal covered the Village of Fayette West End Storm Sewer Replacement, described as an upsizing of a stormwater pipe to address flooding and sinkhole issues on the north side of West Main Street. The project total listed was $279,200 and MVPO indicated a CDBG amount of up to $500,000 could be requested; their 2024 income survey returned an LMI qualification of 58.60 percent.
MVPO said the next step is to prepare and submit the application in June. The hearing record does not show a formal county commitment of funds or a vote on the applications; it records the presentation of the projects, project totals, CDBG request amounts and MVPO's LMI survey results.
