Santa Claus council awards $492,313 repaving contract, names 'Bell Parking Lot' and approves service work

The Santa Claus City Council on Oct. 15 approved several infrastructure and maintenance actions, including awarding a street repaving contract and formalizing park improvements.
The council reviewed repaving bids and agreed to accept the lowest bid from Sikes Civil LLC for $492,313; the project is scheduled to begin in January 2025. Mayor Donita Bowen said the city had set aside a CD at Altamaha Bank to fund the work but that early withdrawal would incur a $9,523.53 penalty.
Council also voted to award pressure-washing work to L & L Carpet Cleaning. The newly paved parking area at the park will be named "Bell Parking Lot" in honor of Russ Bell, who donated the property to the city. Council discussed minor fence repairs around the sump-pump area and agreed to pursue contractor bids for that work.
No additional formal bond or tax action was recorded; the council flagged the CD penalty as a financing consideration and scheduled the repaving work to start in January 2025.
