St. Peter school board hears strategic-plan update, including Phase One of AI pilot

The School Board of St. Peter Public School District met in a study session on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, at the Saint Peter Middle School Media Center. Vice Board Chair Drew Dixon called the meeting to order at 5:04 p.m., and the board adopted the agenda on a motion by Tracy Stuewe seconded by Ken Rossow; the motion carried unanimously.
Board members heard an administrative update on the district’s 2025–2026 strategic initiatives. The presentation listed five priorities: implementing the Standard Response Protocol (SRP), strengthening delivery of the Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS), rolling out a new curriculum improvement plan, advancing Culturally Responsive Pedagogy, and launching Phase One of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) pilot. The update described these items as part of district and building-level strategic plans for the academic year.
The district did not present decisions or formal approvals tied to the initiatives at this meeting. Two agenda items — “Update on Superintendent Focus Areas and Goals: 2025–2026” and “Legislative Planning” — were tabled because the board had a special meeting scheduled for 6:00 p.m., and those items will be brought back at a future meeting.
Board members also reviewed upcoming meeting dates: the Business Committee will meet Feb. 11 at 10:00 a.m. (District Office); the Policy Review Committee will meet Feb. 11 at 4:00 p.m. (District Office); the HR/Negotiations Committee meets Feb. 11 at 5:00 p.m. (Middle School Conference Room A/B); the Education Committee meets Feb. 13 at 11:00 a.m. (District Office); and the Regular School Board meeting is set for Feb. 18 at 5:00 p.m. in the SPCC Governor’s Room.
A motion to adjourn, made by Stuewe and seconded by Kate Martens, carried unanimously and the study session ended at 6:05 p.m.
No votes on policy changes, budget matters, personnel actions, or ordinance-like items were recorded during this study session.
