The board also observed that moving sand requires a permit and that sand on boardwalks can rot wood if left in place.
On Stop 22, Larry Wall reported he reviewed the project's scope with contractor Freddy Woods (Sullwood) and approved work already done; he described a 48" x 48" landing that must rest on the seawall and noted the stairs were built to a 30" width (not 42") consistent with code, which differed from permit application expectations. The board asked the contractor to install a metal grate to match the existing landing height and discussed options to reduce trip hazards.
John Wall said he would review the structural integrity of the timber wall and benches beneath the parking area and noted Stop 19 needs two boards replaced and consideration of a pad to mitigate sand displacement from the last step.
The board also acknowledged a successful beach cleanup on May 16 and thanked the Police Department for large-item pickup. No formal budget appropriation or contract award was decided at the meeting; members requested follow-up quotes and permit information.
