Artiffany Stanley of GMA presented a Safety Grant check for $2,600 to the City of Santa Claus on Feb. 18. The council heard that Michael Carroll of Triton Fire & Safety will supply an estimate for a security system that the grant could help fund.
Councilmembers also noted that the 2025 budget was passed in January and that the city has implemented increases to water, sewer and trash rates. The council agreed to "opt out" of House Bill 581 (the Homestead Tax Relief Grant) and set three open-forum meetings to present and advertise that decision; the meetings were scheduled for March 18, April 15 and April 22 at 7:00 p.m., and will be advertised in the Advance.
Council signed the "Pledge for Civility in the City of Santa Claus" promoted through GMA. The mayor reported that all invoices and estimates for Hurricane Helene repairs have been submitted to ER Assist and that G.I.R.M.A. reimbursed the city for damage to a small storage building on Noel St.
