The Hackberry Elementary School District #3 governing board voted on Aug. 12, 2025 to submit its completed Auditor General corrective action plan and approved a package of routine personnel contracts, policy changes and service agreements.
Business Manager Sam Dell told the board that “all 41 action items identified and marked implemented in the corrective action plan report have been completed,” and asked the board to authorize submission of the plan to the Auditor General. The board approved that request by recorded motion (passed 4-0).
During the meeting the board also accepted the resignation of Bryan Wright from the district school board (motion passed 4-0). The board approved a full-time paraeducator contract for Timonthy Sprenkle and approved including Cheryl Schoolcraft in the Classroom Site Fund Distribution Plan; both personnel motions passed 4-0.
Board members approved several policy amendments affecting professional and support staff, including changes to GCD (professional staff vacations and holidays), GCCA (professional/support staff sick leave), GCQE (retirement of professional/support staff) and GCCB (personal/emergency/religious leave). Each policy change was moved, seconded and recorded as passed 4-0.
The board approved routine business items on the consent agenda earlier in the meeting: minutes for July 8 and July 14, 2025; donations (with authorization to send thank-you letters); accounts payable vouchers 2586–2588 and 2650–2655; and payroll vouchers 2601–2603. The board recorded each consent motion as passed 4-0.
Other approvals at the meeting included authorization to attain pre-paid legal services, approval of a Food Program Permanent Service agreement, and a motion to reduce staff meal prices; these motions were recorded as passed 4-0.
The board entered executive session under A.R.S. §38-431.03(A)(3) to discuss personnel matters and, after returning to open session, approved the actions discussed in executive session by vote (passed 4-0). The board scheduled its next regular meeting for Sept. 9, 2025 and adjourned at 5:55 p.m.
What this means: The district completed a multi-item corrective action plan identified by the Auditor General and moved to formalize that completion with a submission. The personnel and policy approvals are largely routine governance steps intended to maintain compliance, staffing and operations going into the new school year.
