Caribou County commissioners approve vehicle purchase cap, HVAC maintenance and community donations; convene executive session

Commissioner Bryce Somsen moved to amend a prior authorization and cap the purchase price for a 2025 Ford F‑150 at no more than $47,000; Commissioner Marty McCullough seconded and the motion passed. Public Safety Director Eric Hobson had said a suitable truck was located in Idaho Falls for $46,200 after another vendor withdrew.
The board approved a preventative maintenance contract for the county Event Center HVAC with Advanced Heating and Air Conditioning at $1,663.62 per year after Rowdy Larkins (Maintenance/Building) described the contractor’s proposal and a standing maintenance need for the facility.
Commissioners also approved a $1,500 donation to local resident Cindy Erickson for a volunteer-led public-art project to paint seven panels on the courthouse parking wall; Erickson told the board she had already purchased $1,200 in materials. The board separately approved the standard indigent cremation payment of $1,500 to Wilkes Funeral Home on a motion from Commissioner Somsen and a second from Commissioner McCullough.
The board voted unanimously to enter an executive session at 11:58 a.m. under Idaho Code I.C. 74-206(b); the meeting reconvened at 12:14 p.m. and the board reported no decisions from the closed session. Before adjourning the board approved the agenda, the minutes of May 26, 2026, claims totaling $465,010.72 and payroll of $218,323.47.
