Savannah Council approves multiple contracts, airport sponsorships, licenses and zoning items

At its July 9 meeting Savannah’s City Council approved a slate of routine but financially material items, including software and service contracts, airport sponsorship and design services, an alcohol license and zoning changes.
Key approvals included: renewal of NEOGOV software with Governmentjobs.com, Inc. for $39,659.41; an annual commercial irrigation contract with Turf Services, Inc. for up to $60,000; construction contract for Stratford Park and sections of Augusta Avenue with Johnson-Laux Construction, LLC for $384,667.70; and Contract Modification No. 1 for street repair and resurfacing with Savannah River Utilities Co. in the amount of $290,000. The council approved Items #5 and #6 on an 8–1 vote (Alderwoman Miller Blakely voted no) and Items #7 and #8 on an 8–1 vote (Alderwoman Gibson-Carter voted no).
Airport-related approvals (Items #9–#12) passed unanimously and included host sponsorship for the F. Russell Hoyt National Airports Conference ($55,000), an amendment to the airport liability insurance premium ($37,266), a supplemental design agreement with Crawford, Murphy & Tilly for $323,433, and a logo licensing agreement with Travel & Leisure for $34,000.
The council also held and approved an alcohol-license hearing for The DeSoto at 15 East Liberty Street (David Folsom) and approved second-reading amendments to the Eastern Wharf Planned Development zoning ordinance and a rezoning for Savannah Country Day School (65.28 acres) on the Stillwood Drive/Cedar Grove Avenue corridor (File No. 20-000090-ZA). The rezoning vote was 8–0–1 with Alderwoman Gibson-Carter recorded as away during that vote.
