Spencer County must pay Shelby County the exact number of prisoners housed each month; the agreement term runs through June 30, 2027 but may be terminated on 60 days' written notice. The jailer, Darrell Herndon, and Shelby County Jailer Sandra Ashcraft participated in presenting and confirming terms.
The court approved the contract by voice vote after Judge Travis thanked the Jailer for helping negotiate the $32 rate. The court instructed staff to execute the agreement so that housing and transport arrangements may proceed under the new rate schedule.
