Spencer County sets public hearing and accepts County Road Aid agreement estimating $875,491 apportionment

The Spencer County Fiscal Court voted May 4 to participate in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s County Road Aid Cooperative Program for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026. The Transportation Cabinet’s apportionment estimate for Spencer County is $875,491; distributions follow the Cabinet’s standard three-part schedule and a 3% emergency fund withholding.

Judge Scott Travis said the county will advertise and hold the public hearing required by KRS 174.100; the court set a special meeting for June 1 at 8:45 a.m. to provide the public an opportunity to review proposed road and bridge projects and priorities for use of state-derived road revenues. The court also adopted a resolution authorizing the County Judge/Executive to execute the Cooperative Program contract.

The contract authorizes disbursement of funds for materials, labor and equipment necessary to construct, reconstruct and maintain county roads; the county is responsible for any costs beyond the apportionment amount. The court’s action ratified the contract terms and accepted roads and streets referred to in the contract as part of the County Road System.

Next steps: the county will publish the required notice, hold the June 1 public hearing and then proceed with project prioritization and any contract execution required to access funds.
