Premier Lakes reports algae and quieter compressor readings; board delays Lake E4‑A plantings

Bill Kurth of Premier Lakes told the River Ridge board the lakes, preserves and dry retention areas are in good condition overall but that seasonal algae growth had been observed. Kurth said a cabinet installed around the Masters Lake compressor reduced the measured sound level from 64 to 52 decibels and that plantings are scheduled to be installed in the near future.

Operations Manager Shane Willis said the tone of the aerator is the main concern rather than the decibel level and that he will coordinate with Bill and Alex Kurth to consider relocating the compressor; the board asked staff to report back at the next meeting. Willis also presented the Annual Quality Assurance audit for lake maintenance and dry retention, concluding there are no compliance issues and that the lakes have improved considerably since Premier Lakes assumed maintenance. He recommended performing next year’s audit earlier because water levels were high during this review.

The board agreed that no Canna lilies should be planted and that plantings for Lake E4‑A will be delayed until an agreement with the Edgewater Association is reached. Mr. Schultz outlined options including additional littorals and rip‑rap and recommended a meeting with the association to seek an acceptable solution.
