Supervisor James Gilman resigns; board to solicit candidates to fill Seat 1

The River Ridge Community Development District board accepted the resignation of Supervisor James Gilman (Seat 1, term expiring November 2026) at its Aug. 27 meeting.
Cleo Adams presented Mr. Gilman’s resignation letter and the board discussed next steps for filling the unexpired term by appointment rather than election. The board asked that Mr. Long and The Meadows’ property owners association manager circulate an e-blast to residents explaining the vacancy, candidate qualification requirements and instructions for submitting a resume or letter of interest before the next meeting.
Board members identified the onboarding materials that will be provided to any appointee, including administration of the oath of office, mandatory ethics training and disclosure filing, Sample Form 1, guidance on the Sunshine Amendment and the Code of Ethics, and Form 8B (memorandum of voting conflict for local public officers). The item was discussed and accepted on a motion by Supervisor Kurt Blumenthal, seconded by Supervisor Robert Twombly and approved unanimously.
The board did not appoint a replacement at the meeting and will consider candidates at a future meeting after soliciting interest from residents of The Meadows.
