Kelliher board moves September meeting to Sept. 19 to include levy information on proposed tax statements

KELLIHER, Minn. — Superintendent Paul Grams told the school board on Aug. 8 that moving the September meeting to Sept. 19 will allow the district to include a reduced levy on proposed property tax statements mailed to taxpayers.
The board voted unanimously to move its regular September meeting to Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024. Paul Grams explained that the schedule change was intended to align the board’s calendar with the levy submission system and to ensure levy information appears on proposed property tax statements.
The board also set the Truth in Taxation hearing for 7 p.m. on Dec. 12, 2024, a required public meeting for the property tax levy process. During his report, Grams presented staff survey results on the Hat Policy that took effect last school year and recommended establishing District goals as a standing report item for FY25, including monthly all‑staff meetings and quarterly paraprofessional meetings.
The scheduling change and the Truth in Taxation date are procedural steps required to finalize levy figures and to provide public notice and opportunity for comment under Minnesota’s property tax process. The board approved the calendar and procedural items by unanimous consent.
The next regular meeting will be held Sept. 19, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. in the school media center.
