The Port Wentworth City Council approved a two-year operations, maintenance and management agreement with EOM, moving the company from a temporary contract to a permanent arrangement. City Manager Steve Davis said the permanent contract represents a 2% increase over the temporary rate and recommended approval, citing that EOM had kept wells running and the wastewater treatment working beyond capacity and that the city had not experienced EPD issues since EOM began operations. Council approved the EOM agreement unanimously.
Separately, the council approved a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) agreement with the Greater Savannah Black Chamber of Commerce to provide tourism services. City Manager Davis said the chamber would receive only a portion of Hotel/Motel tax (DMO) funds and would hire a person specifically for Port Wentworth. The DMO agreement passed, with Councilman Mark Stephens recorded as the lone nay.
The meeting minutes also record approval of a Sikes change order; the council approved the change order unanimously. These contract approvals were recorded as votes and will be implemented by the appropriate city departments.
