Township Engineer Jill Smith told the Longswamp Township Board of Supervisors on Oct. 22 that her office is continuing Act 537 sewer‑planning work, including laying out schematic sewer lines and examining options for Topton and alternate community systems. She said a meeting with Topton will be scheduled soon to discuss options.
Smith said her office is preparing a municipal maintenance building site plan and that the board agreed to commission a structural study of the existing building as the project moves toward public bid. “When the Township puts this project out for public bid, then at that time the Township can request a structural plan done by Hanover Engineering,” she said.
The board also considered and approved a pre‑plan construction and indemnification agreement with Mountain Village Section II. Supervisor Mike Sacks moved to execute the Oct. 21, 2024 agreement; Don Hickman seconded the motion and it carried.
Smith additionally noted that the Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for Nov. 6 because of the Nov. 5 election, and she briefed the board that paving of an extension of Barbara Drive in Southridge Estates is scheduled to proceed in November, weather permitting.
The items discussed were updates and an approved developer agreement; no final sewer project approvals or municipal building construction bids were awarded at the Oct. 22 meeting.
