Councilor Frank Lemaire moved to take a draft Golf Cart Ordinance off the table at the Dec. 11 meeting; Councilor Sauro seconded and the motion carried. Council discussion referenced a prior exchange between Councilor Lemaire and Police Chief Dulworth about the risks and benefits of permitting golf carts on town streets.
During discussion council members and the chief expressed reservations about allowing golf carts in Clermont. Councilor Topf asked whether there was a motion to approve the ordinance; no councilor made such a motion. According to the minutes, "The Ordinance dies for lack of a motion to approve." No vote adopting the ordinance was recorded.
The minutes show that the council and chief are not in favor of allowing golf carts; the council took no further action at this meeting.
