Council to revisit pool-closing policy, adds $600 to 2026 pool budget for cameras

Council members did not adopt a policy at the Aug. 4 meeting; instead they decided to invite the pool manager to the next meeting to discuss refund procedures and operational details for the 2026 season.
Separately, councilors reviewed options for pool security cameras. Staff presented three approaches: request access to the school's Wi'Fi, use Arlo cameras through Verizon, or purchase solar-powered cameras. The minutes record an estimated purchase cost of $500 for two cameras plus a $15 monthly service fee. Council added $600 to the 2026 pool budget for cameras.
Staff said the pool is slated to close for the 2025 season on Aug. 22; a year-end expenditure report will be brought to an upcoming meeting to help set the 2026 pool budget.
The council requested staff and the pool manager develop a clear policy for next year addressing thresholds for closure, refund practices, and accommodations for season-pass holders.
