The Centerville-Abington board approved a job description and the conversion of a grant-funded, externally employed high-school career coach to a district classified position.
The presenter explained the employee currently works three days per week through a grant administered by the service center and is hired by Eastern Indiana Works; the proposal adds two district-paid days while continuing to accept grant funding that would offset part of the salary. The presenter said the district expects the net cost to be approximately zero because of grant reimbursement and the per-student internship funding already available.
Board members asked whether the position would develop curriculum; the presenter said the role is proposed as classified (not a certified position) and that curriculum development would likely be handled administratively or by certified staff. The board voted to approve the job description 5-0 and directed staff to post the position with a target start date of March 1.
