PTO president outlines Oct. 4 Robey Fall Festival plans; Tree Allies to staff a booth

Erin McMulty, PTO president, told the Tree Allies during their September meeting that the Robey Fall Festival will take place Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and requested the organization staff a table with a simple activity for visitors. She asked volunteers to arrive by 9:40 a.m. for setup.
The request prompted members to volunteer and confirm materials. Mallory Abel displayed a banner for parade and festival use, and Heidi Boyle proposed placing banners at each of the three recent tree-planting sites. Mike Beam, Mallory Abel and Amber Lane Laraby offered to staff the Tree Allies table; members agreed the table should include an activity such as coloring pages and materials for children.
Planned family-focused activities include a Dr. Seuss reading of The Lorax, leaf rubbings and a scavenger hunt. Organizers also discussed hanging paper leaves in a town window, laminating tree-sale handouts and a gift-card drawing. Heidi Boyle said she would purchase freezer pops for the event. Parade logistics were noted: the parade is set to begin at 11 a.m. at Spirit of Life Church, with volunteers expected at 10:30 a.m.
The meeting also assigned production of an informational poster board showing tree varieties, sizes and sun/shade suitability; Mike Beam said he would make the poster. Members said Tree Allies literature and sign-up sheets for an email list would be available at the table. The group did not record any formal vote tied to the festival beyond the earlier procedural approval of minutes.
The Tree Allies will proceed with festival preparations and staffing; members plan to finalize materials and confirm volunteers before the Oct. 4 event.
