Lynn Township plans June invasive-removal at Ontelaunee; PennDOT denies Bird Town sign permits

Rob Sayre, an EAC member reporting under 'BOS' matters, said the Road Master and Board of Supervisors approved use of a township truck to haul debris from the Ontelaunee invasive-plant cleanup. Sayre announced a Bird Town subcommittee will meet and an invasive-removal event is scheduled for June 6, 2026. The event will include a local Boy Scout troop; the EAC plans to purchase snacks and an 'aqua safe' herbicide from the EAC ad hoc 2026 budget and will request a chainsaw from the Road Master.
Sayre also told members that PennDOT denied permits for Bird Town signs. The council discussed seeking permission from local residents and business owners to host signs on private property and surveying township roads that might be suitable locations. Sayre said a new Purple Martin nesting site had been identified and submitted to the Board of Supervisors and Road Master.
The EAC recorded action items assigning Sayre to price native-plant signage for Ontelaunee and to reach out to Berks Nature about free native-tree donations. The council established (or agreed to establish) a Bird Town subcommittee to coordinate the program and outreach efforts.
