Fire chief: 16 calls this year, truck maintenance over budget; asks for hydrant visibility work

Fire Chief Brandon Mosloski told the council the department has responded to 16 calls this year and provided mutual aid to the ambulance. He reported that one member (Tim Chase) has moved and left the department, and that a recent safety drill with the school had been held.
Mosloski said truck maintenance expenses have exceeded budget, attributing part of the cost to repeated valve problems caused by sand and grit in the water supply. He stated that expenditures for pagers and hose testing were funded using Public Safety Aid rather than budgeted funds. Mosloski asked that inoperative fire hydrants be painted to make them easier to locate during responses.
Mosloski asked whether council meetings will continue to be held in the fire hall meeting room; Mayor Jake Ebert said they will so long as the arrangement works for the department.
