Truman applies public-safety aid toward law enforcement contract, uses ambulance aid for 2024 rig

Councilors on Nov. 3 reviewed a $14,900 allocation of Public Safety Aid, of which $5,383.46 had been identified to purchase digital speed signs for Highway 15. Council learned MnDOT approval to install the signs has been delayed until 2026 and voted to apply the remaining $9,516.54 toward the 2025 Martin County law enforcement contract (motion by Ron Kelley, seconded by Chad Truax; all ayes).
Council also discussed Emergency Ambulance Aid funds. A portion had been used for equipment; the remaining balance of $27,841.33 must be spent or encumbered by the end of 2025. Council voted to apply that balance toward the ambulance rig purchased in 2024 (motion by Ron Kelley, seconded by Chad Truax; all ayes).
The moves reallocate local aid to meet timing constraints and to ensure state-allocated emergency funds are applied to a capital purchase rather than lapse at year-end. Council recorded unanimous votes on the allocations.
