Kitzerow also noted operational costs and funding pressures: Casey’s has started charging a monthly fee on fuel cards, the recent fundraiser raised funds for binder lifts, and funding for the department’s sharps container has been cut — emptying the container costs approximately $300 and occurs about three times per year.
The council approved a motion to write off outstanding 2023 ambulance accounts receivable, noting most accounts are in collections; the write-off was recorded as a motion for accounting purposes rather than to relieve collection activity.
What happens next: The ambulance director and clerk will record the approved write-offs in the city’s accounting records and continue recruitment and training efforts; any program changes for registered drivers would require further council or policy review before implementation.
