The Truman City Council on Sept. 15 adopted a proposed 2025 tax levy collectible in 2026 and set the Truth in Taxation hearing date.
City staff presented a proposed levy of $763,532 (a 12.3% increase over 2025). Council voted to approve a proposed levy increase of 13 percent and then adopted Resolution 2025-39 approving a proposed levy of $768,514 for collection in 2026. The council also approved holding the Truth in Taxation hearing at the regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., when the budget and levy will be discussed and the public may speak.
The motions to approve the levy and to adopt Resolution 2025-39 were made by Councilor Ron Kelley and seconded by Councilor Chad Truax (levy motion) and by Councilor Kelley and seconded by Councilor Danielle Williams (resolution); both motions passed unanimously. The council noted the levy figure may be decreased but not increased before final adoption in December.
