Clermont council authorizes speed sign repair and approves vehicle-payment above estimate

The council discussed replacement costs for a new unit (approximately $4,500 to $5,500) and noted both a refurbished electronics package and a new unit would carry a similar one-year warranty. Chief Dulworth also described challenges in investigating speeding complaints reported via social media, prompting a broader council discussion of possible countermeasures for Tansel Road, including the benefits and drawbacks of speed bumps; no formal action on traffic-calming devices was taken at the meeting.
Separately, councilors voted to approve payment of a repair invoice for the town's 2012 Ford police vehicle even though the final cost exceeded the previously approved $3,800 estimate. Councilor Beam moved to authorize payment of the higher invoice amount prior to formal approval of the Accounts Payable voucher; the motion carried by recorded vote with all present voting Aye.
Councilor Lemaire departed the meeting at approximately 8:10 P.M., and subsequent votes recorded four Ayes to zero for some later items.
