The Clermont Town Council on Feb. 3 approved two additional appropriations totaling $40,000 to fund a town signage project that had been omitted from the adopted 2026 budget. Clerk‑Treasurer Larry Beiter opened a public hearing at 6:05 P.M., explained the omission was an error in the adopted budget, and said he had posted the proposed additions with the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF) on the Gateway website and at Town Hall.
No members of the public attended the hearing or submitted objections during the public‑notice period, and the council moved quickly to action. Councilor Beam moved to approve the additional appropriations; Councilor Sauro seconded. The motion passed unanimously with five Aye votes recorded.
The appropriations add $20,000 to Motor Vehicle Highway — Unrestricted (Fund 0708/2201) and $20,000 to Local Road and Street (Fund 0706/2202). Clerk‑Treasurer Beiter and Councilor Lambard reported they reviewed funding options and recommended the posted approach to cover the town signage line item.
Because the change originated from an administrative omission in the town’s budget process, the council did not receive public comment and made no further amendments during the session. The council recorded the vote at the close of the public hearing; the funds will be available to the town for the signage project as appropriated under the amended 2026 budget.
The council set its next regular meeting for Feb. 12, 2026 at 7:00 P.M.
