Council hears update on North Shore Management Board restructuring to preserve tribal voting membership

During committee reports at the Aug. 25 Two Harbors City Council meeting, Councilor Redmann provided an update on the North Shore Management Board's work to adjust its organizational structure and joint powers agreement. Redmann said the Board is developing changes to allow the Tribe to continue as a full voting member without signing the joint powers agreement, a step intended to respect tribal sovereignty.
The update also noted that the Board's Technical Assistance Committee is working on updates to the North Shore Management Plan and that the next regular voting meeting is scheduled for Oct. 9 in Silver Bay. Councilor Redmann's briefing was informational; no Council action was taken on the Board's organizational changes at the Aug. 25 meeting.
The Council received the committee report as part of routine committee updates; any formal municipal response or action on the Management Board's organizational changes would require future agenda placement or intergovernmental coordination.
