Hope Select Board approves warrants, signs county tax paperwork and schedules two special meetings

At its April 8 meeting the Hope Select Board approved payroll and treasurer warrants, convened briefly as the Board of Assessors to sign 2025 county tax paperwork, and scheduled special meetings on April 16 for the FY26 budget vote and April 18 to sign the HES warrant.
The Hope Select Board met at the Hope Town Office on April 8, 2025, and conducted routine town business, approving warrants, taking Assessors actions and setting two special meetings.
Select Board member Sarah Ann Smith called the meeting to order at 5:34 p.m. Charles Weidman moved to approve the agenda as written; Crystal Robinson seconded and the motion passed, 5-0.
In the first substantive votes, Select Board member Charles Weidman moved to approve the March 24, 2025 minutes; Wayne Luce seconded. The motion passed 4-0-1, with Select Board member Sarah Ann Smith recorded as abstaining.
The board then approved the Treasurer's and Payroll Warrants numbers 74, 75 and 76 after a motion by Charles Weidman and a second by Wayne Luce; the motion passed unanimously, 5-0.
By motion, the Select Board suspended its role as the Select Board and convened as the Board of Assessors. While acting as Assessors, the members approved and signed the 2025 certified ratio declaration and the Assessors Return required for Knox County taxes; both actions were approved 5-0. The Assessors session was then adjourned and the Select Board reconvened by a unanimous vote.
Under new business the board set two special meetings: a final vote on the FY26 budget on April 16, 2025 at 5:00 p.m., and a special Select Board meeting at 12:30 p.m. on April 18, 2025 to sign the HES Special Town Meeting warrant. Both scheduling motions passed 5-0.
The Select Board reviewed their letter for the town annual report later in the agenda; no vote is recorded on that review in the minutes. Charles Weidman moved to adjourn at 6:17 p.m.; Wayne Luce seconded and the motion passed 5-0.
