Planning commission approves agenda and minutes; staff notes new training law and upcoming variances

Commissioner Williams moved and Commissioner Girmus seconded approval of the meeting agenda; a roll-call vote recorded seven ayes and no nays and the motion passed 7-0. Commissioner Girmus moved and Commissioner Williams seconded approval of the May 18, 2026 meeting minutes; that motion also passed by roll call 7-0.
Planning and Zoning Administrator Shaundee Graham briefed the commission on administrative matters. Graham noted that Legislative Bill LB663 (passed in February 2026) requires two hours of education for members of the board. Graham also identified upcoming variance requests in the Villages of Milligan and Fairmont and discussed the Central Addition for the Village of Milligan; the minutes do not record final determinations on those variance matters.
The chairman called the meeting to a close at 9:20 p.m. after Commissioner Noel moved to adjourn and Commissioner Girmus seconded. The commission scheduled a July 1, 2026 meeting at 6:00 p.m. at the Fillmore County Fairgrounds and tentatively set a July 27, 2026 meeting at 8:00 p.m., subject to agenda items.
No formal votes on land-use applications or solar projects were recorded at the June 15 meeting; staff indicated the county will await additional materials and legal review before returning substantive items to the commission.
