Montezuma council unanimously approves consent agenda including LMIG street contract, airport runway allocation and lead service line contract

At its Aug. 13 meeting, the Montezuma City Council unanimously approved a consent agenda that ratified a $209,467 LMIG street contract, accepted several grants and allocations including tentative state runway funding of $550,000, authorized a lead service line inventory contract, and approved a $95,000 intra-fund transfer to meet a vendor deadline.
The Montezuma City Council on Aug. 13, 2024, voted unanimously to approve a multi-item consent agenda that included a streets contract, grant acceptances, airport funding, an engineering contract for a lead service line inventory and an intra-fund transfer.
The vote approved ratification of a July 29 phone poll to award the Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) contract to Reeves Construction in the low bid amount of $209,467.00 for work on Lyn Gresham, East Adams, Leon Court and Norris Street. The minutes record that the city will apply LMIG 23, LMIG 24 and LRA 24 funds totaling $188,646.90, with a city match of $30,820.10 budgeted in TSPLOST FY2024.
Council also accepted a $6,000 grant from International Paper to purchase a golf cart for the Montezuma Police Department’s Teen Traffic Safety Awareness Program; the minutes state the total cost of the golf cart is $8,015.98 and the remaining $2,015.98 will come from the SPLOST Fund, with a budget amendment to follow at fiscal year end. The council accepted a tentative allocation of state funding in the amount of $550,000 for runway rejuvenation and remarking at the Dr. CP Savage Airport; the recorded city match for that item is $183,333.00.
The minutes show the council entered a contract with Still Waters Engineering to provide engineering services for the Lead Service Line Inventory Project. To meet an Oct. 16, 2024 deadline to complete field work, council approved a $95,000 transfer from the Sewer fund to the Water fund; the minutes note this funding may be reimbursed in the next round of funding awarded in November 2024.
The motion to accept the consent agenda was made by Council Member Cleveland Hobbs and seconded by Council Member Howard Brown; the minutes record the vote as unanimous in favor. The meeting then adjourned.
