Housing authority reports property activity; commission waives landfill fees for demolition at 825 Shay Street

Ronald Gilbert, director of the County Housing Authority, updated the commission on property management, preservation grants and redevelopment efforts.
Gilbert said the authority sold a rehabilitated house (the "Gridland House") and continues to market other properties, including five acres at Links in Cross that the authority is offering for sale to potential multifamily developers. He reported two existing triplexes — one in Burlington (out of program restrictions) and one in Leroy (a five‑year moderate income occupancy requirement) — and said the authority continues to seek preservation funding through USDA and the Federal Home Loan Bank.
During his update Gilbert asked the commission to waive landfill fees for a demolition owned by Mound View LLC at 825 Shay Street. A motion to waive the landfill fees was made, seconded and recorded. One commissioner announced an abstention; the chair recorded the motion as passing (vote recorded as 4 yes, 1 abstain).
Gilbert also discussed demolition assistance and encouraged continued support for landfill waivers for remediation projects, saying past waivers have helped contractors and sped cleanup work.
The commission recorded no further action beyond the fee waiver vote at the meeting.
