Commissioners approved a set of routine payroll notices that included promotions and a new hire in the treasurer's and sheriff's offices and authorized recruitment for a vacant road and bridge heavy equipment operator position.
Motions recorded on the consent portion of the agenda included: a promotion for Lacy Brooks (Treasurer's office) from classification 35‑4 to 35‑5 with a wage change to $23.72 effective Jan. 16, 2026; a promotion for Carrie Hugenan (Treasurer's office, motor vehicle and tax specialist) to grade 35‑4 with wage $23.16 effective Jan. 16, 2026; a new‑hire payroll notice for Crystal Donaldson, Sheriff's Office dispatcher (classification 35‑7, wage $24.85, effective Jan. 26, 2026); and a step/grade change for Kelly Baker (Sheriff's Office) from 35‑5 to 40‑5 with wage increasing to $25.46 (effective Jan. 16, 2026). Each of those payroll motions was moved, seconded and recorded as passing (voice votes recorded as passing with the board recorded as favoring the motions).
During department updates, the Road & Bridge superintendent reported that equipment operator Chris Gford will retire in early March; the commission moved, seconded and approved advertising to hire one heavy equipment operator to fill the vacancy (motion passed by recorded voice vote).
No dissenting votes on these personnel items were recorded on the tape; commissioners requested copies of the new salary schedule and payroll paperwork for review.
