The Coffey County planning and zoning office recommended Driggs Design Group PA to perform the Airport Subdivision platting work, and the board approved a contract at its March 9 meeting.
Planning & Zoning Administrator Heidi Harris said staff solicited eight firms and received four proposals. The committee recommended Driggs because the firm previously completed work at the county airport (around 2013–14) and had relevant survey and flight‑plan experience. Commissioners discussed fee differences among respondents and clarified cost not-to-exceed language. The approved motion authorized the chairman and directed that funds come from the general fund community improvements line item; the contract was described in the motion as substantially complete by September 2026 and capped at $8,200.
Commissioners approved the contract by voice vote with no recorded opposition and asked staff to finalize contract language and file it for signature. The county attorney’s approval as to form was included as part of the motion.
Staff said Driggs’ prior airport work included locating buildable sites relative to flight paths and other airport constraints; the contract documents will include a not-to-exceed amount and an anticipated completion timeframe to align with the county’s development schedule.
