Commissioners approve ditch-bill payment, set budget meetings, grant prorated liquor license and declare sheriff vehicles surplus

The board approved payment of Murray County Drainage Authority ditch mailing costs totaling $145.70. Commissioner Roger Zins moved the ditch-bills motion, which Commissioner Dennis Welgraven seconded; the motion passed.
The board set special meetings to review 2027 departmental budget requests on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. and Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 8:30 a.m., both to be held in the Commissioner Board Room at the Murray Government Center. Commissioner Welgraven moved to set the meetings; Commissioner Mark Carlson seconded and the motion passed.
On a liquor-license application, the board approved a Combination On/Off/Sunday license for Pump N Pak RV Inc (dba The Store) for the partial license period 6/15/2026 to 5/6/2027 and prorated the on-sale and Sunday fees for the 11-month partial period. The county record shows prorated charges totaling $1,100 for the partial license period; Commissioner Mark Carlson moved the approval, Commissioner Roger Zins seconded and the motion passed.
Finally, the board declared five sheriff's office units (listed in the record as units #123, #158, #159, #166 and #167) surplus and authorized their sale via auction through Enterprise Leasing Company. Commissioner Roger Zins moved the surplus declaration, Commissioner Loy Woelber seconded and the motion passed. A staff member noted that recent state law requires police equipment be stripped from vehicles before they are sold.
No items were tabled or postponed; the Chair adjourned the meeting at approximately 9:41 a.m.
