The Kenosha Board of Park Commissioners unanimously approved a permit for the Wisconsin Marathon, half marathon and 5K to use Simmons, Kennedy and Moyer parks on April 25, 2026.
Organizer Jonathan Cade, who identified himself during the public hearing, said event set up would begin April 24 and that race starts will be moved slightly earlier — roughly 6:35 a.m. instead of the prior 6:50 a.m. — to clear northern parts of the course sooner. He also said the 5K route will shift from 65th to 61st, a small change he described as the only planned course adjustment.
The permit application filed by Reese Projections LLC requested standard event services including food and merchandise vendors, amplified sound and temporary structures. Commissioners voiced broad support for the event during discussion, with one member calling the Wisconsin Marathon an event that “puts Kenosha on the map.”
A motion to approve the permit was made and seconded and the board voted aye; the chair cast an affirmative vote as well. No conditions beyond the usual permitting requirements were recorded in the transcript.
The organizer said the plan otherwise follows prior years’ logistics. The board did not record any requested changes to fees or additional mitigation measures in the public hearing.
