Panel approves Urban Tales and other licenses, discusses timing for revocations

The License and Permit Committee approved multiple license items and discussed how the city will handle revocations for license holders previously approved under provisional conditions.

Staff presented Item 3 — an application from Urban Tales LLC for a commercial kennel at 1920 52nd Street — and said the police department had no adverse recommendation. After no applicant testimony, a committee member moved to approve, a second was recorded and the committee approved the license by voice vote.

The committee then considered a slate of pet fancier license renewals for the term Jan. 1, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2026 (including Cassandra Brown; Roselyn Brown; Tanya Ernst; Paul Fobier; Deborah Kohler; Joni Marks; Carlene Morris Simonson; James O'Brien; Victoria Stanford; Holly Winter). No applicants spoke and the committee approved the renewals by voice vote.

Staff introduced a yearly cabaret license for Ollie Biggs c 6 LLC at 2401 60th Street. Committee members discussed the venue’s space and possible entertainment setup; after a motion and second, the committee approved the cabaret license by voice vote.

At Item 6, the police department reported “no updates.” A committee member raised concerns about license holders approved earlier under a proviso and urged verification and potential revocation where appropriate. The city attorney said he was aware of outstanding matters and was “targeting the revocation proceedings in January,” and suggested handling some revocation hearings on council Mondays to reduce extra meeting days.
