Mayor Horace Hudgins read the Ocilla Downtown Development Authority’s recommendation to appoint John Graham to its board, and the council approved the appointment unanimously. Councilwoman Mona Paulk moved to accept the recommendation and Councilwoman Claire Clayton-Stone seconded; the motion carried 5-0.
The council then considered the Proposed Budget for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023. Mayor Hudgins said the council had received and reviewed the proposed budget and needed to vote to advertise it so a public hearing and final vote could be held at the next meeting. Councilwoman Claire Clayton-Stone moved to advertise the budget and Councilman Steven Hudson seconded. The council voted 4-1 to advertise, with Councilwoman Mona Paulk recorded as opposing the motion.
The votes were recorded by vocal or hand-raise count as indicated in the meeting record. No ordinance numbers or budget totals were specified at the meeting; the council directed that the proposed budget be published and scheduled the required public hearing for the next council meeting.
