"I am very concerned about statements from Delaware Secretary of State Charuni Patibanda-Sanchez assuming that the permit for dredging will be approved by the Army Corps of Engineers," Cartier said. He added he saw "no such guarantees that it will be approved, and if so, it will be able to make it past federal court in Philadelphia," signaling concern about potential legal challenges.
Cartier also congratulated the Town Commission for its snowplowing response after a recent storm, saying there were "stark differences between the quality of life in Bellefonte vs the surrounding county" and that he had received calls and emails from constituents in neighboring areas whose streets remained inaccessible for up to a week.
The remarks were presented as part of the commission's special-guests portion of the meeting; commissioners did not take formal action on the Port Expansion or rescind any town positions. No public response or rebuttal to Cartier's remarks appears in the minutes.
