NCC Councilman informs Bellefonte of approved drone service, offers fence-enforcement option

John Cartier, a New Castle County councilman, addressed the Bellefonte Town Commission at its Jan. 12 meeting with three operational updates affecting local governance.

Cartier said New Castle County has approved a subcontracted drone service that will be used by county fire, police and emergency services to assess scenes reported to 911 and to determine the need and intensity of response. He described the service as a "cutting-edge tool" the county will deploy in the coming months.

Cartier also reported that annual sewer billing is being delayed. He offered that county staff would add fence-height restrictions to the Town's Property Maintenance Code enforcement if the Town Commission and Planning Commission pass an enabling resolution; he noted any such restriction would not be retroactive and existing fences would be grandfathered. The Commission referred the fence-height matter to the Planning Commission for consideration.
