New Bremen council approves solicitor contract, library sign reimbursement and salt bid

The council voted, 5–0, to renew Solicitor Jason This’s contract for Jan. 2026 through Dec. 2027 at $21,000 per year after a third reading of Ordinance 2025‑11‑25. The motion to adopt the ordinance was made by Councilman Condon and seconded by Councilmember Pulskamp.
Village Administrator Richter reported that the water plant salt bid opening produced a single bid: “Artesian of Pioneer was the sole bid at $178/ton.” The council adopted Resolution 2025‑11‑17 to accept that bid on a 5–0 vote (motions by Burnell and second by Bertke).
The council also approved Resolution 2025‑11‑18, voting 5–0 to reimburse Auglaize County $14,500 for two exterior library signs installed during a 2024 renovation. The motion was made by Hurley and seconded by Burnell.
Other procedural matters included approval of the consent agenda (which added an executive session for personnel to the evening’s agenda) and several second‑reading ordinances scheduled to return for further consideration, including authorization to sell personal property on GovDeals and a proposed 3.50% wage increase for village employees.
At the meeting’s opening the council excused Councilmember Larger after a motion by Condon, second by Bertke; that motion also passed 5–0. The council later entered an executive session to discuss personnel and exited before adjourning at 6:48 p.m.
