New Bremen reviews floodplain changes affecting about 65 parcels, raises pool pass prices and advances several readings

New Bremen — Village Administrator Richter told the council Feb. 23 that revised flood data places about 65 parcels in New Bremen’s updated floodplain. Richter said the village complied with required deadlines but has not yet been re‑entered into the National Flood Insurance Program; residents in affected areas are receiving letters that may require them to carry flood insurance. The village reported contacting Congressman Jim Jordan’s office to request help expediting FEMA review.
Council also reviewed several routine and policy items. Larger reported February expenditures of $1,093,843.46 and total receipts for January of $1,727,697.28; the finance committee reviewed January bank reconciliations and the consent agenda (minutes, finance report) was approved by a vote of 5–0.
On parks and recreation, council approved adjustments to pool pass pricing to reflect higher lifeguard wages and operating costs: family pass $125 to $130, individual pass $50 to $65, adult day pass $5 to $6 and youth day pass $4 to $5. The YMCA of Greater Dayton’s management fee for the pool remains $15,500; the YMCA management agreement appeared for a second reading (Resolution 2026-02-01).
Council received the final assessments for the completed Vine, Park and Walnut Street reconstruction; the total assessment to residents is $86,024.35. That item was recorded as a second reading (Ordinance 2026-02-03). Council introduced Ordinance 2026-02-04 (first reading) to designate Amy M. Speelman, Fiscal Officer, as the designee for public records and Sunshine Law training for the mayor and council.
At 6:43 p.m. council entered executive session to consider appointment, employment, dismissal, promotion, demotion or compensation of a public employee; Fire Chief Dan Voress and Assistant Chief Lee Kuenning joined the executive session. At 7:38 p.m. council exited executive session; no action was recorded. The meeting adjourned at 7:38 p.m.
