The Village of New Bremen council adopted Ordinance 2026-03-06 on third reading Tuesday to renew the village’s medical insurance, approving a 5.68% increase to the Gap Plan that takes effect May 1, 2026.
Village Administrator Richter summarized information from Stolly Insurance about the Gap Plan, saying the option provides flexibility while keeping deductibles and premiums stable and encourages employees to use Health Savings Account contributions. Council member Bertke moved to adopt the ordinance on third reading; Council member Maurer seconded the motion. The vote was six in favor, none opposed.
During administrative reports, Village Administrator Richter also said the village had heard from Representative Jim Jordan’s office that FEMA processing of a National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) application is delayed because of government shutdowns and budget cuts. The minutes record this as an informational update; no further action on the NFIP matter was recorded at the meeting.
