Ocilla council tables liquor-license request; hears routine district reports and adjourns

The Ocilla City Council tabled a request from Ashwin Kumar (Sonny) Patel for a liquor-store license at 507 N. Irwin Avenue because the applicant was not present.
During committee reports, District 2 Councilwoman Patrice Y.W. Manley asked that overgrown grass near the old Abel Funeral Home on Seventh Street and at the corner of Roosevelt and 7th Street be cut. District 3 Councilman Lemora Moses reported limbs had been cleared in parks and asked for a new bridge at Cumbee Park. District 4 Councilman Steven Hudson said water-line issues had been repaired. District 5 Councilwoman Claire Clayton-Stone raised a question about new water-bill customers; staff said the issue has been resolved. Fire Chief Will Towson asked about watering downtown trees. City Clerk Lucile Middlebrooks had no comments.
Councilwoman Mona Paulk moved to adjourn and Councilman Steven Hudson seconded; the council voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting.
